What Is DELTA-8 THC?
Delta-8 THC is one of the many cannabinoids that are secreted by cannabis plants. Think of it as the cousin of delta-9 THC, the major intoxicating component in cannabis, but without the overwhelming effects. Delta 8 THC can make you feel relaxed, clear headed, heavier in the body — but it doesn’t get you high.
Delta-8 THC occurs in very low concentrations in CBD hemp flower (less than 0.1%). However, manufacturers can extract it using other cannabinoids, such as delta-9 THC to make it into a concentrated form. One of the possible extraction methods involves converting delta-9 THC, which has a similar molecular structure, into delta-8.
Delta-8 THC products are made similarly to other hemp products. The isolated extract can be infused into a carrier oil to make tinctures or capsules, or mixed into an edible base to create gummies. There are also vape cartridges using delta-8 THC and thinning agents in order to make the cannabinoid vapable.
